Results of Recruitment

Even though we got 33 responses for our screener survey, we were only able to get four users to have a conversation and participate in usability testing: three engaged users and one new user.

Number of Users

While we were aiming for 5-7 users from each category to interview (10-14 users total), we were only able to recruit 1 new user and 3 engaged users. Because of time limitations, we had to move on. Because of this, the results could be skewed, especially in the "new user" category.

Research Objectives:

Originally, we had hoped to compare the flows of new and existing users. However, during the interview with the new "user", it became clear the he wouldn't be a user of AllTheRooms. His primary goal was to have one platform to help him communicate with his various guests and tenants. This is not something that AllTheRooms offers. He wasn't as interested in benchmarking, analyzing the market or his competition, which is what AllTheRooms is made for.

Because we didn't have a new user to analyze, had to revise our research objectives, as follows

1

where pain points or friction exist

2

what brings the most value to the user

3

how flows between engaged and new users differ

4

who users are

  • What are their goals?

  • What is their process of investing in short term rentals?
